September Challenges Completed

Comment: Added a giant bottle of Evian to my shopping list as this should be around on the next drinking night.

Comment 2: Need to start reading FlyLady again to get the house organised. Could also look for home organisation tips on Pinterest.

Breakfast: Porridge with seeds and honey.

Lunch: Lamb, cucumber and tomato.

Fruit: Banana. 2 grapefruits.

Drinks: Hot chocolate. Coffee. Lush rhubarb and ginger cordial.

Dinner: Lamb in pitta with salad.

Had a few samples while getting salad and lamb ready for tomorrow’s lunch.

Gym: About 20 minutes.

Challenge amounts and how much I did:

Grapefruit goal: 30. Eaten: 30.

Gym: 450 minutes. Done: 466.

Tidying: 450 minutes. Done: 459.

Studying: 22.5 hours. Done: 28 hours.



Mmm – Roederer and Pizza (Monday)

Breakfast: Porridge with seeds and honey.

Drinks: Teas. Coffees.

Snacks: 2 Turkish Delights. A few Quality Streets. Some salted almonds.

Lunch: About 4oz lamb.

Fruit: Banana.

Alcohol: More than half a bottle of Louis Roederer (a reward for almost finishing September’s challenges). Some port.

Dinner: Domino’s pizza and garlic bread. Lost track of how much.

Comment 1: Am worried that I might break my 2 day drinking rule when on holiday next week. Need to consider a plan – maybe a bottle of Louis Roederer the Thursday after we get back.

Comment 2: Next month’s challenges should be less time-based. For example, I should set a number of swimming pool lengths rather than time spent in the pool.

Gingerbread Latte (Sunday)

Small free sample whilst waiting for coffee.

Fruit: Satsuma. 2 grapefruits.

Drinks: Tea. Cordial.

Lunch: Lamb in pitta with salad and mayo. Some extra lamb.

Snacks: About 5 after dinner mints.

Comment 1: Don’t take about 5 left over after dinner mints in the fantasy that I’ll only eat one or two per day.

Comment 2: I think I burn about 270 calories in half an hour when swimming. If I speed up, I’ll burn more.

J’s Birthday

Comment 1: If I’m 10st7 or less next Friday, I’m going to buy myself this dictionary.

Comment 2: I definitely need new MP3s for getting to sleep tonight. (Tiredness leads to snickers bars.)

Drinks: Coffee. Cordial.

Snack: Snickers bar.

Lunch: KFC 2 piece variety meal with gravy and sweetcorn.

Gym: 39 minutes.

Dinner at Valle d’Oro: Asparagus pancakes, samples of B and C’s food, orange juice, tornado favorita, vegetables, chocolate mints.

Glass of bitter lemon.

Study Day – 10st9 3/4

Comment 1: I’ve put on 2 lbs over the last week. Need to think of a reward that I’ll get myself next Friday if I’ve lost any weight.

Comment 2: Again I didn’t want to go swimming – felt tired – but felt great after going.

Breakfast: Porridge with seeds and honey.

Snacks: 1.5 Snickers bars (stressed whilst doing a mock exam) + half a 100g chocolate bar needed to help me concentrate.

Lunch: 2 boiled eggs with two slices of buttered toast.

Drinks: Coffees.

Gym: 36 minutes.

Fruit: 2 grapefruits. 1 Satsuma.

Snack: Remains of the 100g chocolate bar.

Dinner: Rice with chorizo and prawns.

Alcohol: Almost an entire bottle of white wine. Glass of port.


Breakfast: Porridge with honey and seeds.

Lunch: Slice of salmon plus lots of salad.

Snacks: Tiny amount of BSS’s sweet potato pie with chocolate. A few maltesers. Handful of polos.

Drinks: Teas.Coffees. Cordial.

Dinner: Rio’s 4oz blue cheese burger + mozzarella sticks + a few chips and a small amount of coleslaw.

Fruit: 2 grapefruits.

Comment: Was glad I only had the 4oz burger. Was lush and very satisfying.

Comment 2: I broke the challenge to stick to my decisions. I’ll remove this for the list and replace it with having to make a joint of beef or lamb every Sunday or Monday night to get my haemoglobin up.

Nothing much happened

Lunch: Tuna mayo.

Fruit: Banana.

Drinks: Teas. Coffees. Hot chocolate. Cordial.

Dinner: Lots of fried salmon with salad.

Gym: 15 minutes swim.

Comment 1: Might get What a Wonderful World as a reward for being demure on my next drinking night.

Comment 2: Again hesitated about going swimming but ended up enjoying it. Need to go earlier, so have more time in the pool and sauna.
