Blood

I failed the first haemoglobin test – blood didn’t fall, so they took a blood sample. My level was 131, so I was able to give blood.

Breakfast: Porridge with salt and honey.

Lunch: A cheese slice (lush).

Snacks: Yoghurt.

Fruit: Dates. Penguin. Oreo thin (not v good).

Drinks: Tea. Masala tea. Coffee. Squash.

Dinner: Steak with leeks and jacket potato with butter.

Alcohol: Half a bottle of lush Lidl Chenin Blanc.

FWDGF tip:

Wine can also enhance your health if absorbed in small daily doses and always, always, ALWAYS with food. (French women find it utterly odd to sit sipping a glass of Chardonnay, as if it were a cocktail. The full taste of wine reveals itself only when paired with the right food.)

Pulled Pork at The Bristol Trader

Drinks: Coffee & hot chocolate.

Lunch: Garlic mushrooms with bread and butter followed by pulled pork with melted cheese, onion rings and Cajun fries.

Snack: 3 salted caramel whips as felt tired driving back from Wales.

Used a scented lavender candle last night. Slept better than usual.

FWDGF tip: opt for a small but delicious dessert like a dark chocolate mousse.

Dinner: Butternut squash, carrots, sausages and mayo.

French women eat lots of vegetables. I’ve added butternut squash to my shopping list.

Drinks: Coffees. Tea.

Pork and Black Pudding

Lunch at The Falcoln. Pork and black pudding starter followed by chicken livers. Carafe of rosé.

Dinner: Soup followed by lush lamb pie with chips and veg.

Dessert: Crepes Suzette with gallons of brandy.

Other alcohol: Most of a bottle of prosecco.

Friday

FWDGFT: herbal tea before bed is essential. Also a lavender scent in the bedroom.

Breakfast: Porridge with salt and honey.

Drinks: Coffee with milk and sugar (a gift). Black coffee. Masala tea.

Lunch: Cottage cheese with prawns (352 calories) plus two slices of buttered toast.

Fruit: Dates.

 Dinner: mushroom omelette with water cress, mayo and chutney.

Alcohol: Mini bottle prosecco and can of Stella.

Thursday

Breakfast: Porridge with salt and honey.

Lunch: Pulled pork and coleslaw baguette.

Drinks: Masala tea. Coffee.

Fruit: Dates. Pear.

Dinner: Pulled pork sandwich with bbq sauce.

Alcohol: Half a bottle of prosecco.

Snacks: Houmous with celery and broccoli. Pistachios. Honey roasted nuts.

FWDGF tip: Chew more! I need to stop wolfing my food down.

Another new plan

The new plan is:

  • blog all I eat and drink daily
  • 1 tip from French Women Don’t Get Fat

Reward: A bottle of champagne in the first week of March that costs more than £20. Also a £35 donation to Young People and Children First.

I know I keep failing, but there aren’t many days left of this month, so I should be able to manage this.

FWDGF tip: Analyse your worst offenders. I think mine is eating too much when I’ve had some wine. My thoughts then are ‘Nothing matters – I should enjoy myself’.

Snack: Yoghurt. Red velvet cookie. (Both of these were when I was struggling with CSS stylesheets and feeling a bit defeated.)

Alcohol: Half a bottle of prosecco.
